Professionally, words have been my game. I’m a writer with years of experience; first as a newsperson (SABC), then as a copywriter and creative director for various ad agencies. I write blog posts, articles, video/TV scripts as well as direct on shoots and in the edit suite.
Personally, pictures are my game. My current style can best be described as contemporary realism with an expressive twist. Emotions play a big role.
A flexible mind and body are gifts you give yourself through action. It’s a choice. The atrophy caused by inaction is also a choice. Use it or lose it. I choose to use it by adding areas of black charcoal and pencil with a touch of colour to blank canvases; thereby creating images the boldness of which engages and hopefully moves you.
In 2017, I reignited a talent neglected for decades and started drawing. Art is dynamic, ever-changing. Over time, I see my work evolving into something more abstract, more figurative, more expressive and in full colour. My journey!
